the definition of "a group of people united in criminal activity" stuck with me throughout my research for this project. i grew up in El Monte, CA and spent the majority of my childhood surrounded my members of El Monte Flores, the largest Hispanic gang in the SGV. of course, as a kid i had no idea what these people were really involved in. they were just my friends, my family.
this ended up serving as the inspiration for part II of this project, hence why i chose to maintain the theme of flowers. i started by taking notes on all my ideas for the members of the family, writing bios for them and fleshing them out as characters even though the whole idea is that they are ultimately anonymous. then i began thinking of how i'd want to make this a semi-interactive experience. i settled on creating a website and got to coding. i had to do research for how to write the password code and the glitch effect. (..don't talk to me about the amount of tabs i have open ok mind ur business thx)

i bounced back and forth between coding and creating graphics on After Effects and Photoshop. i went back to the animation i used in my "Love" video from week 3 and played around with it a bit to make it more unique to this project, then i took a screenshot and brought it over to photoshop to use as the background to my character bios.
